I've received my Caps Lock book and making my way through the 528 pages. The book is split into sections and goes through the history of graphic design in relation to such things as educator, hackist and activist. It's really interesting and was really helpful for my essay research and developing methodology.

And an educational toolkit that Ruben put together to explore the ideas further..
This is a link from the book, and is from a non profit organisation called Gap Minder, they run a project called Dollar Street in which they show houses and possessions from families and people in different countries and with different incomes to try and show what that income will provide. Gap Minder tries to show information and get rid of misconceptions around global information through really lovely visual data.
From a Ruben Pater talk, there were links to other organisations working for social change within the chat..
From another talk with Ruben Pater, heres some screenshots..
