I installed the canvases in the allotment for the opening on the 23rd June, I had designed a flyer for the school to hand out to the local residents and the friends and family of the pupils at the school.
I had also developed the design for a small zine to hand out to explain the ideas and aims of the allotment, these were printed on the Riso and handed out on the day..
The event was attended by around 70 children and their families, the green ambassadors in which each class has a pupil to support this aim and the choir from the school. An assembly was held in which the green ambassadors spoke about what they had worked on in the allotment space and why the work was important. I then spoke about the project and the work that had been developed in the space.
We then had an official opening of the space, and the pupils got to see their new allotment and collect their tote bags. It was lovely to speak to some of the parents about the children's experiences working in the allotment space...
