Backhouse Park Print Trail Event

Updated: Jul 12, 2022

This was the second event at Backhouse Park, the first was just before Christmas and helped to test out the print trail to see if that worked, before this further developed trail focused on people learning more about the park and space.

This second trail was held at an event alongside other stalls that celebrated 100 years of the park. The promotion for this was organised by ICOS, a charity which supports and looks after the park.

The trail followed the same path as last time, making it safe and easy to manage...

There was an updated map created...

I passed this on to the charity to use for future events.

The trail worksheet was based on the shape of the park, again helping user to learn more about the space. The printing stamp stations, marked with the stars on the map above also held the info about each part of the park and the images on the stamps, such as a fairy or apple reflected the information found at each point.

Riso prep design work..

The trail in action...

-70+ children participated in the event

-I was also able to collect around 30 new answers to the Community Is postcards, this was a nice mix, giving the adults something to do whilst the children did the print trail.

-I have now made greta links with the park and hopefully will develop further events and activities there.

-The print trail has been tested twice now, there are a few things to iron out, such as the clipboards do get stamped onto (innocently) and I need to develop a way for users of the park to know that there is a worksheet to use.

-The print trail is now designed that it could be easily edited for other parks and spaces.
