-Craftspace held a talk called Crafting conversations and spoke to Betsy Greer of Craftivism.
-Before the talk all attendees were sent a pack of materials to create their own fabric pack, to write a positive affirmation to them or a friend to reflect Betsys project You Are So Very Beautiful
-As I was annotation notes during the talk, I didn't stitch anything then, but decided to make something during a call to a friend.
-I started this WE logo, which I have left at this stage at the end of the call (after 2 hours)
-Betsy spoke during the talk about stitching a piece talking time, and especially when you are making work with positive affirmations to yourself, the message starts to sink in.
-The pack came in this simple paper folded envelope, with a branded sticker on the front from Craftspace
-I had an idea to send out small packs to see what people thought about community or protest in the same way
-I could send out fabric packs and have an online meeting to try and get people talking around this subject
-I may do an initial call with friends to iron out any issues and see how that goes to then spread it to a wider audience if I feel this is something that will work
-I have then quickly made an extinction rebellion logo and a piece reflecting in one of the words from my protest research to see how these turned out
-I gave myself time limitations on these to see what I could produce in that time (messy stitching!!)
-This was my favourite, just simple felt cut shapes adhered with bondaweb to fabric
-I like the colour and the simplicity of the shapes
-May be good to get people to think about very geometric text if they do use text
