I signed up for a bookbinding short workshop with the travelling bookbinder, Rachel Hazell.
I was really happy to sign up for Rachels workshop as her longer workshops can be 100s of pounds. Rachel ran an hour long workshop, Eight Wishes, on how to make a concertina pocket book and fill each pocket with a different activity. The workshop was really fast paced and I had made a full booklet filled with eight mini pull out pages inside too. The speed helped me to not be too fiddly or worried about the drawings etc and I think this is something I would like to develop on any workshops I wish to create through the hub.
Each page had a different wish theme and technique to fold or use the paper. I think its such a great idea as you leave with a lovely keepsake and skill too.
If I can edit the idea to have pockets of ideas about community or change, and for participants to go back to the booklet to add or refresh themselves on their initial thoughts, the booklet idea is such a lovely way of holding those thoughts and aspirations.
I also bought Rachels book as again, I thought this would helpful looking forward to how to collate certain projects, ideas and imagery with simple bookbinding ideas.
Its also got some beautiful mark-making and repeat pattern throughout, so Im a big fan!
