To develop voices in the community and create connections I wanted to create a leaflet/postcard to both spread the word about the project and also to create a conversation around community and engagement ideas.
I hope to place these in different cafes and places around the city to get feedback. By placing them out into the community I also hope that some of the responses I get back will be less prescriptive from me and more unbiased. I do within this though, need to think about where I place them as this again will create biases from the people that will use each space.
-This is the development of the postcard so far
-I did start with a long line of text but after looking at the work in the rubber stamp book it made me look at the format of a postcard. I didn't want this to be constricting so have used the segmented layout of a postcard, but not followed the postcard format precisely.
-Ive also developed these into a square shape, from an initial rectangular postcard shape. This will then mean that if someone does write on these it will be easier to upload to the square Instagram format
-I think I need to add another element to include contact detailsI want to print these on the Riso, I have printed some initial test prints on the photocopier on thinner and thicker card which didn't quite work. 300gsm being far too thick and 120gsm being too thin so I just need to find the right balance in weight and colour.
I have also posted these to Instagram as I did in the first module with a similar conversation starting piece to get some conversations started there.
I did find this Instagram account, the beauty of activism in which they have a call out for people to design a poster around current events using their design pack and assets. I thought this may be a good development to include more people online when this print and post develops.
