Creating Connections - Window Protest

When looking at protest and gentle protest I think the niche I do want to explore more is using your own house and front door space, reflecting the rainbows during the recent pandemic.

Pandemic Lockdown1 Rainbow

To create a protest pack to then use in protest marches goes against the manifesto I first created. This states the use of outward slogans and imagery within protests and social media posts conveying information can lack inclusivity and sometimes do not help to start conversations.

-The idea of adding information, questions or imagery in your own window space is a gentle way of creating conversations in community.

-The posters given away in the Instagram competition will be photographed by the winners to add to the visual research.

-It is a way we can safely communicate information and use our voice at the moment during the recent lockdown

-I have also below looked at Hundertwasser. Ive always been interested in his work and when visiting Vienna many years ago, I learnt about his Window Right, which gave each resident the right to decorate their own space out of their window, as far as their arms should reach. Ive always loved this idea and within design it is very limited in the way we decorate our houses to show our own individuality.

Hundertwasser's comment on the work

WINDOW RIGHT

The right to one's window. Every man must have the right to lean out of his window and to recreate and reshape his third skin, the window and the outside walls of his house as far as his arms can reach so that he distinguishes himself from his imprisoned neighbours, and that from far away everybody can see: there lives a free man.

Looking at the aesthetics of the posters created in the main hub in window spaces, creating conversations in community and giving individuality and creativity to each individuals house. Using your voice, which may feel lost, in a safe way during the pandemic.
