Layout Research

Updated: Nov 7, 2021

I want to keep a record of layouts and colours that have inspired me to refer to at certain development parts during the MA.

London News 1971

Inspired page layout

like the balance of image and bold text at spanning the length of the page

Eye Talk

Details of Spiral Magazine

Like the orange bind, double page spreads over ring bind and the half pages bound at the bottom of the book

Again, shorter bind to create different sizes of pages with different coloured pages and red on orange detail in printing.

Bep Van Gasteren made the following booklet for the book Art fair in Leiden, Netherlands.

The saddle stitch and the print reflected the WE workshop sheets I have developed and I would like to try and develop the cover for mine in a similar bold style to see how this would look.

Poster House - Jewish Identity & Advertising: Posters in The Third Reich

Whilst watching a Poster House talk, 2 of the posters in Hans Sachs collection took my interest. I loved the strong font and simplified images.

This book had a beautiful font and layout to it. I really like the strength of the subject headers and font used.

Letterpress

In this book I found this composition in which they had used a giant letterpress printed P to work as the background black image for the body of the text to then sit on

I also like the alignment of the type to the right centering on the hole within the P
