I was asked to develop a lesson plan and workshop for a project called, SeeMe.
The project supported and helped children that had been excluded from school. The idea was that a series of workshops would help people to see the individual qualities and interests behind each student.
I was asked to provide 90 kits to be sent to 9 different schools.
It was really helpful to take part in this project as it really helped to develop the ideas for my workshops. At first I was planning to make packs with the stamper kits, but this became expensive for 90 children and the timeline for the project was 2 weeks. I decided instead to make the shapes needed to create the WeType from gummed papers so the participants could more easily create the posters
The packs we also sent out to the schools so it was great feedback to see how the workshop was received and to test the authorship of the workshop by not leading the workshop down a specific path.
It was great to see the outcomes and also the developments such as potato printing and screen printing with the WeType
The outcomes were exhibited in the NGCA and there was an opening event in which some of the students attended. It was great to see some of the students and how proud they were of the results...
