-For my MA install I wanted to print a huge banner to hang outside of Priestman Building in the way designers such as Anthony Burrill , Candy Chang and others make large banners that connect with the local community

-The words chosen are from the print that was developed that held the top 4 answers of Community Is?...

Each Other

People

Working

Together

-This print will fill the square window above the entrance to the building

-The print will be 2m40cmx2m10cm

-I hoped to print it on a cheesecloth material, but as I need a double width fabric so I do not need to cut it in half, I could not find this width locally, (buying online at such scale was goign to work out expensive and a bet on the quality) so have used a cotton lining fabric. The advantage of this is that I know it will not warp or be too fragile with the weight of hanging at such scale

-The print is screen-printed in two colours

-To manage the scale I worked up the design on InDesign and printed it digitally so I could get the registration correct

Its huge,, it was a little stressful printing it on such a small textile bed!...

Note the newsprint covering EVERYTHING to try and stop any mislaid drops of ink!..

I may either overprint the word WORKING in yellow, or leave it mis-registered to show off the shapes.. here are the two options..

-After laying the full banner out below I think I am going to stick with the version to the top right without the added yellow colour as I think the layout is settled and balanced as the print is at the moment

-The next step will be to install this print in the window, the plans for this are available on the installation blog post
