It was nice to listen to the opinions and reflective ideas around activism of two people working outside of design, a painter and a screenwriter/producer.

The ideas and motivations seemed very similar to what I had heard from designers and its motivating to see the same ideas working from different sides of creativity.

Nikkolas defined Artivist as – Creating art to inspire positive change. Broken bone idea, trying to find something that is broken to try and tell others about that thing to try and fix it. We could use an army of creatives to try and fix things, find that broken bone and pour creativity into fixing the problems.

Lena says..

Artists can’t only make work to say everything is ok. Our bones are also broken, and we need to heal too.

Must evolve and live as an artist. It finds its way into your work.

Everybody has a microphone. Is it a good or a bad thing? You used to have to find interesting ways to be listened to. We can’t help but document as people did in the past of our time and thoughts. Unjust themes are not going away, every artist should have a right to show what they want and audiences have a right to consume what they want.

Nikkolas, I make a visual journal, my work reflects what is going on in culture and the news and when you look back can see the timeline.

Lena says.. Is art seen to answer questions now? Always thought it was to provoke questions but find now people come to it more to try and find answers rather than provoke thought.

Not everyone will like your art. It’s supposed to generate conversation. You hopefully come away from a conversation with a better understanding of where someone else is coming from. But you probably won’t from most conversations, come away with a very different opinion often, but hopefully you will have a better understanding.
