Festival of Thrift is an annual event, now held in Kirkletham Museum it first started in 2013. The festival is organised by Wayne Hemmingway and is now a CIC charity. The event is a celebration of sustainability and holds stalls, performances, workshops and speakers over the two days it runs.
This year, Stellar Projects held an installation space in the festival. Ive long admired and visited the work of Stellar Projects, they have a great community and engagement theme to their work and it is always visually stunning.
-The installation for the Festival of Thrift was called Happy Rooms.
-The space was so engaging, the info board outside said about how the space was to try and start a conversation about being happy, where it comes from and how we capture and share it.
-I gained inspiration from the board that was at the end of the installation, there were small envelopes in which people could add their own suggestions to what 'happiness is' i think an interactive way of showing my work in this way would really help to spark the conversation around community.
